Time allowing each of us will make a preparation to take with us, using the materials we’ve gathered.
How to Deliver a Baby in a Pinch
Labor & Delivery Tips for partners and friends of the Mom-to-Be
Whether you’re an expectant parent or an unsuspecting friend, the time may come when you are called upon to help deliver a baby with no professional help in sight. Not to worry, this class is designed to help you know what to do in such a situation, how you can help the mother to relax and let her body do the work, and the steps you can take to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible.
The Sacred & The Practical: Womanhood & Ceremony
During this class we will delve into the spiritual realms of ceremony and the circle of life. We will explore how plants are used in ceremony and how ceremony can be a practical tool to facilitate the coming of age, pregnancy & birth, postpartum care and motherhood. Ceremonies around menses and birthing have evolved over time, passed from woman-to-woman, midwife-to-midwife, generation-to-generation, across many countries and cultures. They have changed and adapted over time as the old is blended with the new and we celebrate the essence of divinity that is unique to each and every life. Moving from menarche through pregnancy & birth to becoming a mother is about closing one chapter of life and opening another; physically, mentally and emotionally. We will discuss how ceremony helps to connect us with divine order to gain understanding and balance as we move through these transitions. Some of the topics & ceremonies we will explore include Changing Woman, Coming of Age, Red Tent, The Blessingway, The Sealing (or Closing the Bones), Mother Roasting and others. (All Levels) (1 part 1.5 hours)
